Abstract: A new strategy for the synthesis of novel zerumbone derivatives via a regioselective palladium catalyzed decarboxylative coupling reaction using arene carboxylic acids is described. The current methodology involves the repositioning of endocyclic double bond to exocyclic double bond of zerumbone. Preliminary in vitro analysis revealed that most of the newly synthesized derivatives are potent alpha-glucosidase enzyme inhibitors.
