Abstract: Microstructural tailoringofkaolinfoamswassuccessfullyperformedfromkaolinclaymineralbysurfactantassistedfoamingtechniqueusing the anionicsurfactantsodiumdodecylsulfate(SDS).ThefoamswerepreparedviafrothingofaqueouskaolinsuspensionwithSDSsolutionsof different concentrationandthestabilityofthefoamwasimprovedbyinsitupolymerizationofmethylol-ureatoureaformaldehyderesin. Furthermore, theeffectofsurfactantconcentrationonslurryfoamingcharacteristicsandthecorrespondingchangeintheporemorphologyofthe dried foamswereinvestigated.Theresultshowedthattheporesize, porevolumeandinterconnectivitychangedwiththeincreasedamountof SDS.
