Abstract: In this work high cycle fatigue properties of squeeze cast Al-Si-Cu-Ni-Mg Piston alloys are studied by varying stress from 80% of UTS to 25% of UTS. S-N fatigue behaviour of Al-12Si-3Cu-0.65Mg-2.5Ni squeeze cast piston alloys have been examined after T6 heat treatment by conducting rotating beam bending fatigue test at room temperature. The Stress vs Number of cycles data obtained shows the squeeze cast piston alloy possess high fatigue limit. Tensile Test of the heat treated squeeze cast Al-Si alloy is also performed and results are shown. Fractography of specimens used for rotating beam bending fatigue test is performed and SEM images are analysed.
