An efficient synthesis of [1,3]oxazino[2,3-a]quinoline derivatives via a three-component reaction of quinoline, DMAD and carbonyl compounds is described.

Lewis acid promoted addition of allylsilane to o-qui­nonediimines afforded tetrahydroquinoxaline derivatives or allyl­ated amides, depending on the nature of the substituent on the imine nitrogen.
