dc.description.abstract Phase pure dielectric ceramic material of composition 0.95MgTiO3–0.05CaTiO3 (MCT) was prepared using conventional solid state ceramic route. Glasses of different compositions viz. 60ZnO–30B2O3–10SiO2 (ZBS), 30BaO–60B2O3–10SiO2 (BBS), 50ZnO–50B2O3 (ZB) and B2O3 were added to the MCT. Effects of the addition of these glasses on the sinterability, microstructure and microwave dielectric properties in the frequency range of 4–6 GHz of MCT were investigated. The structure and microstructure of the glass ceramic composites were studied using XRD, SEM and EDS techniques respectively. The microwave dielectric properties of these composite materials were also investigated. Addition of 15 wt% ZBS glass lowers the sintering temperature of MCT from 1275 to 1050 °C, with relatively high Q × f = 29,000 GHz, ɛr of 17.7 and of low τf = −10.2. Addition of 5 wt% B2O3 glass also reduced the sintering temperature to 1050 °C, ɛr of 17.5, Q × f = 22,000 GHz and τf = −1.6 ppm/°C. en_US
