Abstract:
Restoration of environmental health is a major concern to the healthy sustenance of life on Earth. Multidirectional efforts in this direction are envisaged to this common aim and the use of versatile adsorbents to remove the wide variety of pollutants is the need of the hour. The current paper describes the potential of chitosan particles, modified composites and nanoparticles to remediate various pollutants. The prospects of utilizing chitosan in drinking water treatment and the relevance of the former is also discussed. Finally case studies on the utility of chitosan in soil and waste water remediation are discussed to substantiate the utility of chitosan.
