Abstract:
This work aims to study the structural and photocatalytic performance of p-type (NiO) and n-type (SnO2) semiconductor metal oxides via the same synthesis process and conditions. The structural properties of the synthesized nickel oxide and stannic oxide nanoparticles were determined by X-ray diffraction. The FTIR spectroscopy revealed the stretching vibration modes of Ni-O and Sn-O bonds. The performances of the NiO and SnO2 nanoparticles in the photocatalytic degradation of methyl orange (MeO) dye under UV light was evaluated, and the degradation percentage (%) was found to be 63.63 and 88 %; the detailed mechanism of photocatalytic process and results were comparatively discussed.
